That's a lamination error.... I am not your error expert but can tell you those are very prominent on war nickels. Cool coin!
Planchet issue. Lamination Crack. A die crack is created when the break is on the die. For a die break or die crack, when the die strikes the blank planchet the metal from the blank will flow into the void and appear raised on the coin. That's the big difference.

Yep. Major lamination. Common on War nickels. I guess they had lots of issues with the wartime-alloy planchets, as @Heavymetal mentioned.
