I've recently nabbed two slabbed AU Morgans. I guess the thing I like most about them is that Liberty doesn't have those bag marks that a lot of uncirculated Morgans have. I'm going to post mine. If you have some to contribute, I'd love to see them. (Bet others would, too.)
Nice coins - I personally like high grade circulated Morgans as they remind me more of Americana then the MS "jewelry state" Morgans - even though the high grades are "mucho denero" but I just like the look of old circulated coins.
I guess it really depends on how you look at it. A MS Morgan probably meant it sat in a roll or bag for years untouched. While an AU Morgan meant it got used a few times which adds character.
I have some MS coins but I prefer circulated on older stuff. I like to think about the history and who might have carried and used them. I know it's silly because I will never know whose coin it was but it could have been Lincolns or Jeffersons or Babe Ruth or who knows.
When you're talking dates in the 1890's in MS coins could be be pricy. So yeah to me xf - Au coins make a lot of sense . Nice pick up btw
Nice Morgans. And yes some of the AU-58's are really nice. There are currently some nice ones over at heritage. Currently my only AU-58 coin.
