1802 Over 1 Bust Dollar

    This was my biggest purchase at FUN. There are quite a few of these coins in the Heritage auction, but I liked this one better than all of those pieces. There are five die varieties of these pieces. This one is a BB 234 which is also known as an 1802 Bolender 3. It is an an older (slabbed over 10 years ago) NGC holder with an AU-55 grade. It has a lot of luster although it does not come through in this picture.

    I have a date set, minus the 1794, from 1795 to 1803. I have added a few varieties like this, which I find of interest.

    Lovely piece... technically it's a medal, as it doesn't have a denomination ;-)

    I think that's one of the neatest overdates to be found. A full date run of bust dollars is an impressive accomplishment!
