Like Randy said. There is a reverse proof (San Fran) in the Coin and Chronicles set but I don't see them as being available at the mint anymore.

No proof, just reverse proof. I don't know what the mint was thinking. Oh yeah, they weren't. Regards.

Such a shame!! We're obviously right at the end of the series.... why do that?? The reverse proofs are SO expensive (on ebay) so there will forever be this needless hole in my collection :(

Has there been any talk/explanation as to why they'd do that on the last in the series (for at LEAST the next 2 years)? :/

Also thanks for all the replies :)

Nope. Goobers (mint) is most mysterious and very tight lipped ........

That reverse proof is way too expensive to me. Even if someone gave me one I still wouldn't add it to my collection. It would be the only reverse proof in my set. I figure they will not make anymore proofs for any more presidents, or they will wait until they have 3 or 4 dead for 2 years then catch up. By then I'll probably be too old to know what a president is.

It's just... it's the END of the collection... we really couldn't wait? lol..

I think the Reverse proofs look reallly nice. I kind of love them.. I've put a few in my collection. But, it looks like the mint is putting out reverse proofs now for EVERY year for EVERY coin (I think) - I was on the mint site the other day and they are selling the Innovation Dollar coins (reverse proof sets) - so they are definitely adding these to their strikes on a regular basis. It REALLY feels like they are just adding these things in to continue to try to boost "collecting". But, it's getting too expensive... 4-5 quarters each year 4-5 dollar coins each year. Not to mention the half dollars and dollar coins are not in circulation anymore so you have to "purchase" them either from the mint or from someone who buys rolls/bags from the mint.

The cost for collecting is just getting out of hand.. I've been back and forth whether or not I'd add the RPs to the collection... I decided yes for the dollars but it's just too much to try to do them all :(

Quite understand, dear fellow. The current commem (Tubman), one of my major focuses in collecting, is much overpriced (IMHO), and I sometimes question my motives for purchasing such avirase.

This still bugs me. I have always been interested in the presidents, and this is the only modern series I planned on completing, now it is missing one!

The mint is very adept at taking advantage of the OCD nature of coin collectors.

FWIW, there are 6 reverse proofs in the series, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Reagan and G.H.W. Bush. Truman and Eisenhower are the keys.

I was toying with the idea of putting together a set but like many of you found it not worth the cost.

Very astute of you to recognize that. I haven’t considered this but you are absolutely correct.

Was why I bought multiples of the coin and chronicles sets, but I have-not the heart to break them up.

I know this is an old thread. Was cleaning my desk and found a roll of Bush P coins. I hate when when the mint screws up a set. I wanted the park quarter set. Last one no circulation S. Started collecting President dollars at the bank, till they changed their mind. I feel ya
