This delamination separated from the nickel. It does not fit exactly back onto the coin, so I am guessing there are some small pieces missing. You can also see some other small delaminations on the coin (at the O in GOD, the T in trust, and at the 2 in 62). I would rather have the attached kind so I can't loose the little piece.
I actually don't remember where I found this. Probably CRH since I have never had a bag of nickles. I don't think I bought it from someone.
Ok, weird question with laminations…. On a zincoln the lamination would have to be on the zinc layer right? Is it even possible to have a lamination on one and if so has one been found? (Google is my friend of course and I’ll check after this post, just wanted to get the question in front of some experts too…)
Here is a good read from a few years back. 1982 lincoln ( Zinc ) Nice Retained Lamination | Coin Talk I have also seen what @Rick Stachowski posted on a 2010D Lincoln. I have it somewhere. Although zinc is malleable, it is only malleable at a certain temperature because of it's 6 point crystal like structure. Zinc (final product) is more likely to break if it has a void, than it is to bend and be folded over itself.
You are right of course but ANACS on a $10.00 per coin special probably would not charge an attribution fee. They have done me that favor on a few coins for me. Something like this I might send in but piggyback it on a larger order.
I knew someone here would know. My google search was less than helpful and that’s why I did both. Thank you @Pickin and Grinin for an answer!!
