Looks like a Blank Quarter planchet with upraised rim. The rims are raised before the Planchet is struck. The reeded edge occurs during the striking of the blank Planchet. The retaining collar which is known as the 3rd die forms the reeds when the metal of the Planchet is expanded and forced outward toward the retaining collar due to the extreme force of the strike.
That's why it's important to understand the minting process.

    BTW..
the correct way to state one dollar is $1 not 1$

Also "tchotchke" -- I didn't know what a "chatsky" might be, but Google figured it out for me.

And wherever you put the dollar sign, paying only one dollar for blank planchet seems like a win!

Why is it yellow, the weight is right, and it looks right except the 3rd side isn't showing the sandwich?

I thought I saw a hint of the sandwich in the edge photo, but it looks like it was taken in low light, so the resolution isn't quite good enough to be sure.

You could be right, except it also looks like shadowing.

If it's actually copper colored, I'd say it is an arcade token planchet. They are generally brass and approximate size and weight of a quarter.
