I have two detail coins in my type set. Both are half dimes. The one below is graded G-Details I do not have a photo of the second one. It is an 1800 Libekty half dime F-Details.
I'm glad you appreciate my (ahem) "contributions" . . . . . . . Some see them as a "shift of wit" . . . . . others deem them a "whift of . . . . . " you know . . . . Z
I bought this one is a SEGS holder graded PR 64RB for a pretty good discount. Decided to send it in to NGC through a dealer friend for a better holder, and it came back PR details altered color. Might try again sometime.
I'm bored so here are a few more of my "details" I can live with so far I can say I love all the ones i've seen posted (sorry very scratched slab here.. is hard to get a good pic, but I would call her about an AU 53 with a weak strike in hand and I will still say the trade dollar is AU not XF as graded
And don’t get me started on “Cleaned”. I find it hard to believe that collectors have been doing nothing but cleaning every coin in sight. There’s an identical one on eBay at the moment, which of course is straight graded. Full resolution photos
This is a type that has become more expensive the last few years, so I was happy to find an eye appealing example at a discount.
Ungraded coins can apparently be Details if the dealer doesn't think it would grade cleanly. This one was sold raw as 1922-D 1C Lincoln Cent Semi-Key Uncirculated Details Full Bow Tie & Beard Rare!
Medal commemorating the reopening of the Royal Exchange in 1844, BHM 2185, 73mm by William Wyon. The flattening of the reverse rim at 4 o'clock earned it a details grade.
"Questionable Color" according to the grading service (which is what I expected them to declare). The coin has no "rub", "friction", "hairlines", or any evidence of handling. So I say "No Question-A-Blue Color" :
That's a beautiful coin, color or not. I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. See all the lovely coins here that are graded as details kinda makes me wonder what the heck ISN'T details. I mean do you have to have a coin that's basically straight from the mint and never handled. Glad I don't play the TPG game I suspect I'd be disappointment with submissions.
I forgot that I have a third details coin. It's a James Cook medal, AU-Details, rim damage, Eimer 780 ag. To me the rim damage is minimal but it made what is usually a very expensive medal affordable.
Forgot about this one. It is detailed for a "removed spot", though I find absolutely no evidence of it... This is the only photo I have at my office. Sorry it doesn't show the label.... Seems most all my top shelf coins are details coins and that's alright by me.
I have 2: Best I could afford for a key Peace: Then, this one. Last addition to my cent set. I could not find a good 1912 P for the life of me. This one I found in an unc details holder for qustiobable color. I honestly didn't think it looked too bad so I cracked it out for the set.
