Asked a mod to add in a small paragraph I wrote detailing the exact fates of Eugenius and Arbogast. Got too into writing about the aftermath and consequences that I completely forgot to include how they died. I guess that's what happens when you work on a long post in the early morning so that everyone has an interesting read to wake up to :)

I always appreciate the effort you put into your posts. I love history and the maps and images help bring the story to life.

Yes, I always thought the early Anglo Saxon sceats resembled the clipped silique in both appearance and weight.

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that that's what the Anglo-Saxons were going for when making the sceats.

OH MAN!! I only collect US coins. I thought I would check this post out just to see what it was about. Since it was well written with the maps and all it got me really interested in it now. What am I going to tell the wife now. lol

Good looking siliqua VK. Interesting history too, always enjoy reading where and when the coin was minted.

Thanks all for the additional kind words!
This and other similar comments mean a lot to me. As I've mentioned in the past I have no one in real life interested enough to discuss ancient coins and history (even if I did I'd still hang out with you guys online of course :D), so its nice to have other coin collectors willing to listen to what I have to say/provide.
So if we don't hear back from you, we'll know who did it? :dead:

Just joking :D and welcome. It is always great to see a collector of other areas develop an interest in ancients. There is always stuff available for every kind of budget, so many cultures to choose from, and countless resources that can help you, including the Ancients forum here. Read some of the other threads in this section :bookworm:. Hopefully you will find yourself acting on your newfound interest in ancients, and that we will find you posting the first of your many ancients to come.

I showed my wife your coin and pictures. She thought it was "cool." Hey that's a good start.

Alright!! I got the ok from my wife! :D Now the really hard part. I'm new at collecting this type of coin and I'm not sure where to start. What to look for, under what search, what year? And of course the most important, ..... from where and who to buy from?? What do I need to read to help me get started and what is it I need to know before I buy anything from anyone?? I'm sure there are a lot more questions I need to ask but I know what to ask.
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THESE COINS FROM "THE DARK SIDE!"
