I was recently given a ton, ok maybe 3 dozen, of these little notes. Most all of them are different designs, alot of different denominations and several dates (and some with no dates).

I tried doing a search on google looking for a site that talkes about the notes. i am trying to find what each coupon was used for, what dates they were issued (for those with no date printed on the note), and what notes were issued but i may not yet have.

anyone know 'anything' about these China Food Ration coupons?? Any good site that goes into a good level of detail, or maybe even a book that describes them all??

i know this is kind of an odd subject, but would appreciate any leads on help!!!

Hopefully someone knows something. I've got quite a few of these & it would be nice to know more about them.

yes Drusus. Those are the only two sites i found that even mentioned the Food Ration notes and show pictures. I need to find a place that itemizes all the different types. Kind of like a checklist i could use. Thanks for checking into it for me :)

that on site paulnoll.com says this below each note
"This coupon allows the bearer to buy 1 Jin of rationed foodstuffs. Rationed foodstuffs included rice, flour and cooking oils. 1 Jin equals 0.5 Kilograms equals 10 Liang equals 1.1 pounds.

    Front side translation:
First Line: The Food Ministry of the People's Republic of China.
Second Line: This Food coupon can be used in all of China.

    Back side translation:
First Number: This coupon allows you buy food covered in the whole of China.
Second Number: When you buy food, please buy food types as local area demands.
Third Number: The One Jin means you can buy that much of the rationed foods.
Fourth Number: This coupon cannot be bought or sold. The amount cannot be changed. If lost, coupon will not be replaced."

with each note showing a different value being that notes food weight. I am wondering if all the coupons worked like that. Maybe each note was NOT for a single food, but for any food ration, but only for the weight shown on the note. But i would still like to find a web site or book that shows all the food ration coupons notes.

You can find a site that lets you draw Chinese characters with your mouse.:couchpotato:
Then you select the character the site guesses you've drawn.:lock:
Then you take the site's computer appropriate glyph
and copy and ..paste it to your "find on page".:cat:
and use that to search "pedia's" endless list of Chinese capitals and etc.:artist:
...or you can do a whole list of signs and get full-Monty with your "Translate"...:jawdrop:
in which case ya won't need to search... I.D done!
