Can anyone tell me if you've had trouble getting your coins from the US Mint. I ordered Presidential proofs in February 07. I received confirmation of my order. I ordered the proofs expedited. Just found out because I ordered on the internet my order can't be shipped expedite ( I do have confirmation for what I ordered--shipment and all). So they're coming standard. The explanation from the mint is even though the mint offerred me this option at their site - subscriptions of any type cannot be shipped expedite because the item is actually not available. But, if you order manually (by telephone) you can get your subscriptions shipped expedite regardless of the item being available. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. Has anyone had this problem also?
The Mint web site just tells me that mine are "in stock and reserved". I ordered 2 sets of the Prez proof dollars. They should be shipping them soon, I should hope.
Here's another interesting tidbit about the mint website. If your order is in excess of ~$350 (not sure of the exact dollar), you automatically get expedited shipping at no additional charge. But you must select standard shipping to get the expedited shipping at no additional charge. If you select expedited shipping (which is what you are getting), you will get charged for the expedited shipping and they will refuse to refund you the charge if you later realize you should not have been charged per mint policy. Did I confuse anyone yet?
Ummm Reserved and shipped yesterday. From what I understand reserved means on back order right. And shipped yesterday Was that expedited? Just found out mine are two hours away from me. Can't wait to see what that means in actual real time. Thank God for tracking systems okay. Oh! that was two hours away at 8:25am this morning. I'll let you know when I actually get it. Thanks you for the replies..
When I type in my tracking number for the Prez Proof sets it tells me theres "no record of this item". It said the same thing for my 2007-W ASE but then I recieved it.....hmmmm, I dont know.
I wonder if the mint is forward thinking enough to reserve additional sets for you until you actually receive the coins, thus enabling them to send replacements if somehow the first ones were lost/damaged in the mail? I know that would be pretty forward thinking of the mint, but it would make sense.
I received a tracking number for my Prez proof sets (not received yet) and when I used it, USPS.com tells me that no tracking information is available. They used parcel post. Does anyone know how to track that?
That worked. It seems that DHL is delivering the package to my local post office. You'd think the Mint site would give a little more information about tracking. Thanks for the assist!
Hi I just want to say I received my prez dollar proofs today at 10:30am. Not through checking them out yet. But from what I have checked they are nice maybe 69's and 70's. Just one question why is James Madison's pupils out of the socket? Was he crosseyed? And What is a burnish die?
My biggest complaint with the US Mint is that when I go my reverse silver proofs they were flopping around like a fish out of water. They should have packed them with peanuts.
Not sure if this is in response to the orginal question but the mint can not ship expedited if you are trying to get them shipped Via USPS to a P.O box . I know that I have order several items from the mint by phone and each time could not take advantage of their free upgrade because It is far more convient for me to get them to ship to me at a P.O. Box address. Think USPS used express, standard, priority and registered. Please feel free to correct me if i am wrong about this. I have given up on trying to use the tracking number for USPS. I have only seen it work one time when it was delivered to my Post office. It is good at telling you when you pick it up Thanks for the information on DHL.com will try that next time.
I guess I'm the lucky exception, but I've never had a problem with an order from the Mint other than to wait a bit longer than I wanted for delivery.
Something to watch for if you have your coins sent to a PO box. Although YOU can't upgrade to expedited delivery because the address is a post office box, if your order is over the $300 threshold the MINT may upgrade it to expedited under their automatic upgrade program. The problem is the coins still can't be delivered because it is a PO box. In the past when this has occured the coins have been returned to the mint as undeliverable and the mint then cancelled the order and sent them to the next person on the waiting list. When the original purchasers found out and complained they were told "We're sorry but they were sent to the next person and since the program is sold out it is not possible to get you a replacement." If the program isn't sold out they are told they will have to reorder because they can't place the order for them.
