If you want to hear my expert opinion, you'll need to provide properly cropped & rotated pictures of the entire coin first ;-)

 

I just figured that you could take better photos than that, so you must have "borrowed" them from someone.

I'll get some sharper, complete photos on Monday at work. I'm trying to find the variety too.

 

Do me a favor, take them right-side-up. I had to stand on my head and lay on my side to see these.

I own the coin - see the thread title. In this condition, they are very expensive. I bought it for a "song" for my Type collection.

Since a question was raised about the cost of the piece, I made up a story for him that might be believable. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it.

 

Well it has a heavy wreath rev, that narrows it down to three reverses. The T in CENT leans left and the inner point of leaf below it is close. That makes it Breen's rev B. (On A the T leans right, on C it is pretty much upright and the inner point of leaf is distant.)

So that makes it C-2 or C-9. On C-2 the 4 is well away from the bust, on 9 it is very close. That makes this C-9

 

How does your head hold all that information? I'm impressed. Seriously.

I would believe it if Jee Dubya was engraved on the trunk latch.

 

It doesn't. I have a fair amount locked up there, but I also have experience and a decent reference library that I'm not afraid to use. I only actually collect a few things but I have and have read the references on many series.

 

I never could understand why some people buy reference books and never use them. I seem to be forgetting information faster than I can learn it, so books are the best way to go.

Grade-wise, I'll wager EF+ details, with slight tampering.

 

I didn't say it was good, I said what the variety was. I'm not declaring it to be bad either. With just these images I can't say one way or the other for sure, but I will say I am uneasy about it.

 

When I said "good" I meant "authentic." Do you not think it is authentic? I am quite sure that it has been messed with.
