C'mon @Insider - you should know not to show pics where us old guys have to crack our necks to see them!!
Not sure about AU, the Rev edge. Can't turn monitor to give location & I ain't gonna stand on my head to look. Cleaned
Well - I ain't buying it - I think @Insider is once again drawing us into a "think before you speak" situation. Bad pictures, Not indexed to see them, and to buy an original coin in that condition would cost an arm and a leg - and I think his wife would take BOTH of them from him if she found out - LOL!!
What if I told you it was in an envelope crammed into a hollowed out book in a trunk at a storage auction?
Heck, most everything was cleaned years ago, especially on old coppers. Those old copper guys.......ain't they much akin to the fellows on the 'ancient' forum? A cleaning don't bother them one iota..........
Hey, I dabble in both sides of the light. But you are right. I still wouldn't clean a copper or non copper. I don't have a half cent only because of cost. I'd like to add some one day though.
SOOOOO WHAAAAAAAT!!!!! I love it and can't really tell a lot about it because of the pictures but it looks good from what I see. If it was in a book at an auction that's even better.
The pictured coin does not look genuine to me. Edited after a closer look . . . I thought it to be fake, but after referencing good images of known good pieces, it looks great to me. In fact, it looks like quite a nice example. I jumped the gun, and may suffer a public flogging for this instance . . . if the whip is long enough.
I can't see the reverse real well. But, if there is a die crack from the "T" in STATES to the wreath then that coin has none higher than EF. Otherwise I might buy AU. I wouldn't pay more than EF for the coin. No matter which die pair is used.
For what reason? The two worse things a professional authenticator can do is to call a genuine counterfeit or call a counterfeit good. I should like to read something you who tell the court jury to prove your opinion.
