I am currently torturing myself by watching that fat guy on "Shop at Home" sell the Martha and Abigail Presidential Bronze pair for $35.00 + 5.00 shipping, $40.00 bucks for the pair!!!!

But they cost only $3.50 from the mint:headbang:

Stop me it's like a car wreck! Is that why I watch?!?!

Yes, I like to see how much they try (successfully most of the time I might add) to sell things, and then do a search for realized prices on anything I'm interested in just to see what the difference is. Thing is, it moves too slowly and bores me to death, so it's only about 5 minutes of entertainment.

Think everyone is missing the point. They are an excellent price guide. Just take about 1/2 or at times 1/3 of what they are selling rare coins for and you have about what the things are worth.

    Greetings,
They pray on the people who don't have cash on hand to pay for certain coins. they offer you this you can have it now pitch and charge you three times the amount or more. It works for the people who buy it apparently..There still not off the air, so someones making a killing off of other peoples misery.

They are also making a killing off of the saps that know nothing about coins and don't take the time to check if it is a good deal or not!!;)

They are entertaining, but so are Carnival Barkers and bad reality TV shows, many continue to watch them as do I, scream at you when they sell.

I think these are the guys based out of Tennesee and come across like snake oil saleman shouting out of the back of a wagon.:loud:

The HSN guys (Mike the Mannequin) have incredibly inflated prices as well but they don't scream at you, and come across a little more calm, not as hyper as Robert Chambers and his little sidekick Sean (Knifeguy and Basebal card seller) he is a triple threat!

Bama guy is right there is a formula for the price, they are generally at three times the price on most items, All day long! :D

The idiots on TV are only good for a laugh and make a stronger point for Capital Punishment.

Wonder when they'll hook up with SGS?

I miss those guys. They used to be on one of the cable channels here, but they dropped that channel about a year ago... now I don't get to see them anymore... :(

I used to watch them at night and they'd put me right to sleep!!

How are you guys watching them? On satellite?

I like to watch them also when there is nothing else on TV. It must be a real stab in the back to their regular viewers/buyers when then come out with a deal that is 50% lower than last year.

Coin Vault keeps coming out with ten or twenty BU morgans and peace dollars that shine so bright they almost hurt my eyes. These coins must have been kept in a vacuum chamber for decades to look so bright.

Their market must be the arm chair couch potatoes who have more money than sense.

I too let them put me to sleep sometimes. I am such a coin nut that even their hogwash calms me.

I heard once that they used to pull in so many coins of certain issues (things like Silver Eagles) that they actually drove up the price. Not to what they were charging, mind you, but up nevertheless.

I watch them just to see the coins on TV. Whenever I check on their prices they are way overboard. Last week I was switching between 2 coin channels and they both were selling 2007 ASE NGC graded MS69. One station charged $69 and the other charged $37.50. Same coin and grade. The $69 station had plenty of them while the $37.50 station had less than a dozen at that price. Go figure.
