Looking for a few examples of aUS large cent

    I don't know where your looking, but it should not have a die crack in "MRIC". Please compare your coin to the line drawing. :)

    What book are you using for your attributions? Mine lists it as an upright 56.

    I’m not sure which is correct. CoinFacts also uses the slant 5 as N-4

    I am using the 2001 edition of "The Die Varieties of United States Large Cents 1840-1857" by John R. Grellman. Could it have possibly changed through the editions?

    That or a mechanical error, but on which one? Since CoinFacts shows several varieties for both the Upright and Slanted and have the N-4 listed with the Slanted I’m leaning toward that. But it’s certainly not definitive until another expert chimes in.

    I was reading that same book and I thought it said a die crack from the M to the A in America.
