error 1998 d?

I found this penny, I'm not sure if this is a error? There seems to be a dot on the nose, is this an error? It dose not look like dirt, if it is how can I get clean the dirt of it? In fact How do you safely clean penny?

Throw it back into circulation. The coin is corroded and not worth the effort.

 

Another zinc cent and you need to spend this coin as it may contaminate your other coins.
