Re: the 1964-D Peace dollars, I am very happy to live in a world where the only ones are Daniel Carr's creations. I firmly believe those who claim to have seen a "real" one are merely attempting to burnish their dealer "street cred" with untrue stories. Coin dealers can be and frequently are the most incorrigible liars on the planet. I've seen diagnostic photographs of Martha Washington test strikes of the new stainless steel 5 cent piece that's on its way to us in the near future, but the Mint refuses to let the actual pieces out of their hands. I have handled unstruck blanks and upset planchets, however. Those too were carefully counted pre and post-examination. Incidentally, the color and strike look EXACTLY like the 75/25 cupronickel version. Some photos were side-by-sides - new stainless alloy and cupronickel.
The only possible account of a 1964-D that would be authentic is one rumoured to be in the LBJ Library.
I think the library would put it on display if it had it. Then again, I suppose after the Case of the Purloined Gold, maybe they should keep quiet.
It depends on the state. In my state there is no SOL on felonies, and that would include grand larceny. Also, I do think there are states with SOLs on homicide.
For someone who is extremely focused on the stringent letter of the law and law and order, I am surprised to see you speak favorably of Mr. Carr's work.
V. Kurt Bellman - For a government employee that is above reproach you sure do spend a lot of time posting on the internet during what most would consider normal business hours. I wonder what the taxpayers of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania think of that.
UpGrayedd, welcome to the forum. Please refrain from personal attacks. Did you get your name from Idiocracy?
It was probably more eloquent though. It is funny that Kurt seems to have disappeared after 3:44 p.m. EST. lol IMO that wasn't much of a personal attack. Merely observation.
Not a personal attack just an observation, but I must say if I am going to be "warned" Mr. Bellman should also be warned about his personal attacks on RWB and Mark Feld. Yes I did get my name from Idiocracy (which is looking more and more like a documentary) but I also like to cherrypick for up grades so I thought it was apropos.
Not at all. I do not believe Mr. Carr's work in any way is legally problematic, and I'd LOVE to litigate that case if I could. Alas, the only way I could would be if someone came after my personal Carr pieces. In that circumstance, you can bet your bottom dollar I'd litigate it myself without a lawyer. I'm 13-1 against licensed lawyers in court. The one I lost was because I was too cheap to pay a handwriting expert.
I post on my personal iPhone while waiting for people to arrive for appointments. I don't waste anyone's time, particularly mine.
And you'll likely be insulted again in your life unless you start presenting yourself more as the educated person you probably are. But online lack of proper English usage paints an unflattering image of you.
I believe that BOTH "RWB" and Mark Feld are blowhard charlatans, and I hope they both know I do. I would never knowingly do business with either one. Saying so is an absolute right in my book. And don't get me started on my view of PCGS' founder, the guy with the name that's like a corridor, not if you're easily shocked by unkind frankly stated opinions, that is.
