1911 Weak D? Vertical die bar present... Been looking for one forever?!

I usually use one major diagnostic on the obverse and three major ones on the reverse to authenticate 1911-D $2 1/2 coins. There are many more.

Go to PCGS Coin Facts (IMO D.Hall deserves a spot in the Numismatic Hall of Fame for providing collectors this amazing resource.). Download the 1911-D. Enlarge the reverse.

Look for a small diagonal "dash" of die polish next to the beak. Also note the "crescents" into the rim above "United."

Amen to this @imrich : "And the moderators could always clean up this thread to remove the posts not related."

    Hi,

I actually did look at that thread (coincommunity) - a lot of useful info but a lot of confusion also. A lot of other threads on other forums also, including this one.

@imrich - I did issue an apology via PM, but would like to publicly do so as well; mods probably should clean up this thread.

But speaking of the coin community thread earlier, where/what is the polish die mark? That thread seemed to establish that if the polish line is present, it is. On every example of a 1911-D (weak or strong) I've seen the same polish line over and over again.

The tiny vertical polish line in the space in front of the arrow tips is far to the left - away from the tips.
