Hey if you've received an alert saying I liked your post and that post was a couple of years old I've been spending a lot of time reading stuff on hear the past couple of weeks. I have had four heart procedures, a blood clot in my leg and congestive heart failure. I know nobody cares about anybody's pain but their own. I just didn't want anyone thinking I was some kind of stalker of troll or something. I'm just bored and I have a learned a lot as well. Besides this is cheaper than eBay and there doesn't seem to be as many day games in baseball as there used too so I have to do something entertaining.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope and pray you get better!

Last night, I was actually browsing an old thread someone else brought back to life last week, and I liked some 3 year old posts in it. So, it's not just you! :)

    First off... get better...

Second - the reason for having old posts is so that we have access to and can learn from the past - so don't feel bad for doing exactly that!

Third - a long way to go from a couple likes to being a troll (not something I'm asking you to work on btw, :cat:) and yes, it's definitely cheaper than eBay (and probably will have you keeping more of your hair).

Mkent... hang in there. There are a lot on this forum who have medical issues and this is a great way of keeping our minds toward a more positive approach in beating the odds. Just diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer this past week. Keeping a positive attitude and spending a lot of time on my coin hobby. Makes the long days shorter and more enjoyable. Keeping your mind busy and alert is key to success. I just received an order of coins that I am working on now and I have a lot of backup coin rolls to go through also. Good luck and stay positive.

@MKent and @Jerry Curtis - I'm wishing for the best for you guys! Hit the "Like" all you want! Heck...here's some stuff for you to look at without having to go back in time.

These are 12 ancient coins...kind of to scale but not exact...that are some of my favorites at the time I made the image. It's just some eye candy for ya!

Here's and image of the first ancient coins I ever bought, it came in a group lot (you may have already seen them, I've posted them often, and in just a few minutes ago):

Here's something different. My largest collection is of military trade tokens. It's a huge passion of mine. Here are a couple of my favorites:

    I hope you enjoy!

Good luck hombre! We are all here with a one way ticket, just not easy to acknowledge it. I am well north of 60 and sometimes wonder what my wife and future widow will do with my coin collection should I kick the bucket. I would hate to see all those nice coins wasted and lost, as I live in another country where numismatics is nearly non existent. I have made a deal with a fellow collector to assist in disposing of my coins properly. Not trying to be morbid, just some food for thought for all of us older gentlemen.

Coin Nut...I share those same concerns and I am well north of 70... Although I am a coin enthusiast, no one in my family really shares my avid interest. I have spoken to my son-in-law on this very subject and asked him to check in the Portland [Oregon] area to see if the hobby is popular there; if so, I may ask my son-in-law to dispose of my collection when the time comes. Also... I'm sure there are some auctioneers that specialize in buying entire collections for disposing. I know there are some major coin companies that would surely provide this service. Not quite there yet but something that needs some thought and preparation... as you so aptly put it, we all have that one-way ticket and eventually will have to use it.

I look back on a scene that took place when I was around 11-years old when my grandmother passed away. Her two children, my dad and his sister, gathered everyone around her old trunk where she kept her special personal items. Among them were several old coins. I remember there were several large Silver dollars and a lot of smaller coins. Dad and Auntie each divided the large coins between the two; then they took the remainder of the smaller coins and divided them among all the grandchildren. Being kids and it being Saturday, We all immediately went downtown, took in a movie, and wasted those old coins on whatever toys, candy, pop, etc. that we wanted. In my coin collection, I have the coins my Dad took that day; They were [4]1880's and 90's Morgan Dollars, the best one being an 1896-O, plus [3] Liberty Peace Dollars 1922-s and p, and a 1923-s that is AU grade.

I do not want to see a repetition of that event when it is time for me to call it quits with my coin hobby. Jerry
