I've seen that on coins before I just didn't realize that was considered a cud as it didn't reach the actual surface of the coin. I always thought it was some kind of rim damage. Thanks for sharing this. Also thank you for your service to our Great Country. (side note saying Great & Country together isn't a political statement or endorsement of any candidate it is just my personal opinion of Our Country and I wouldn't some of the PC crowd that reads these post to be offended and report it) Again USMC thank you for the sacrifice.
No problem all get set up on that do you have any other preferences lol. Well you seen it first on coin talk. That's why I like showing my coins here first, and getting the various opinions from other members. This helps me decide if I'm going to send it in are not. I hope the other members do not take this as disrespect but I believe when I showed this coin they had very low opinions of it. I can only hope that all the new collectors just keep looking through your change, to me it's like having Christmas all year round. You're never know what surprise you'll find next.
Please post pics. I would really like to see that and I'm sure John would. That sounds like one he would use in his varieties column.
Patty if you need more reference. I have a couple of similar ones on cuds on coins. I believe this would be the second one in the 02 dates.
Unfortunately I can't post pictures. I still have dial-up and Windows XP. My server Frontier is also quite retarded. The example I have is about the same as yours.
I have found most of these are rim burrs you just have to know what to look for. I made this photo up a wild back to show basically what to look for in This particular type of rim cud.
