I didn't have a 1902 in my collection and this is in surprisingly great condition for being found in pocket change. No idea if theres value to it but Just wanted to share my find! 20231208_234500.jpg 20231208_234534.jpg

Cool find. Beyond rare to catch one in the wild.

A very nice find. It’s a common date for an Indian Head Cent but always thrilling to find in the wild. It’s worth about $1.00 and congratulations.

Heck, I still get giddy when a wheat cent turns up on my change. That’s awesome.

My Dad did almost the whole set of the Indian Cents. I finished all but the 1877. I'm going to have to pay a bit of change to get one that's worth collecting.

Strange how things like that show up in your change sometimes. It's happened to me before and it always makes my day.

Wow, very cool. I'm always pleasantly surprised to pull a wheat cent out of my pocket change. I've never happened across a IHC before.

The only coin I got as change was a Kennedy half dollar. I got gas at a store that is own and operated by 3 men from the middle east. Terrific guys, but there is a language barrier sometimes. Anyway, I bought something and got a 1964 Kennedy in change. Although it wasn't something too special, I showed it to a fellow collector. He told me that the coin was nice and that he would like to it. I thanked him for the offer and I kept the coin.

I never found an Indian head cent and I searched a lot of pennies.

I used to have a lot of different coins until my drugged up brother needed to get high so he stole my whole collection sold it for a couple hundred dollars worth of whatever drug he was addicted to then. I spent a lot of time with my uncle and grandfather going through their coffee cans of change they would collect from throughout the year. Up until my uncle passed away I had lost interest after loosing everything I collected to my brother.

Thats awful. I'm so sorry. Drugs suck. They really suck the soul out of people.

I didn't hit the "like" button on this, because I don't like anything about it. I know the ones that did hit it were just letting you know that they had read your post, and understood. I've done that before myself. I'm really sorry that happened to you. Addiction has destroyed so many and so much, and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight.

Great find. Very glad for you. I've found them in change, but that was many years ago. I found one in a roll a couple of years ago. Like had been stated, there's something special to a coin you find in change. In January of this year, I got a 1909 VDB LWB in change from our local Wendy's! I had a smile on my face for a week after that, lol. So glad for you!

Just wondering. There are 2, maybe 3, 1982–D small date copper (bronze) pennies known, valued somewhere between 8-18 grand. Their conditions are AU58.

What if such a coin were found in a mint state, say midway, like MS66RD. What might it go for at auction?

Whatever a coupla rabid bidders would pay. There is no benchmark so Lord only knows.
