Just noticed this. Seems like it clashes hard and was repolished but they missed the shoulder and I can clearly make out the strong Y & T and a faint E. Although I'm have a tuff time photographing this tiny coin. The hit on the steps suck but it's still nice. What do you guys think the value is, somewhere around $10 maybe?...
I don't see a clashed "Y" or a "T", but if you find someone who is crazy enough to pay you $10 for this, please let me know. I have more than 200 clashed "Y" from a 1980 Mint bag. NOTE: This is not a solicitation! Chris
Yes, tough to photograph. The Obv. is nice. Those hits on the Rev. hurt me. I'm trying to match it up to something like this:
The "Y" has to show (inverted) near the top of the 2nd bay from the left, but I just don't think it is there. Chris
I'm being honest! Here is what I see in your 2nd photo....... 1. What I think you see in the 2nd bay is something that looks like an inverted Y, but it appears too far south in the bay. 2. What I think you see in the 1st bay is something that looks like an inverted T, but it is even lower than the Y. 3. However, both of these appear to be thicker than they should. 4. Finally, if they actually clashed in this lower position in the bay, you would think there would be some evidence of a misaligned die. 5. I don't see any of this being consistent with a clash. Like I said, I have more than 200 of the Clashed Y from a 1980 Mint bag, and they don't look anything like yours. Chris
I see the Y as well. Normally it would be higher but I have seen clashes where the dies were rotated slightly causing the T or Y to be lower or higher between the columns.
I wish I could. I used to have the images from my stereomicroscope on my old computer, but the graphics card became corrupted and I no longer have my stereomicroscope. If you want one, PM me your address and I'll be happy to send you one as a gift. Then, you can post the photo. Chris
But like I said in an earlier thread about a little kindness going a long way.... (that thread since stopped)
