a george washington dollar! i went to the park today and did a bit of detecting and found a 2007D washington dollar and a state quarter in the sandbox. i counldn't belive it when i pulled a new golden dollar out of the ground! it started raining, so i had to go.
Great finds Coinlover!!! Do you wait until right after the kids leave and jump in the sand box or are you the meanie that breaks their sand shovel and kicks them out... . Thats the last place I would have thought to look.
lol, there was no one in the playground. it wasn't really a sandbox. it was the playground and slide and tetor tottor i detected in the sand by.
One funny story about detecting those sand boxes: I knew someone who was detecting them and some woman went to him yelling that he was "stealing the kids lunch money." I wish that I had been there I would have told her to bug off. (but not those words.)
i do make a living off finding change in the sandbox! my neice had a easter egg hunt in the park last easter, and i brought my detector. i ended up with about $1.50 in change, all kinds of buttons, and other stuff. i like sand because you really don't have to dig, just scoop the sand and put it through the sifter. its just easier. thats funny that that woman said he was stealing the kids lunch money!
we have a county fair every july, and i usually sneak over to the carnival rides after they have shut down and the carnies went to bed with my friends. we usually find a couple bucks worth of change, just on the surface! alot of people loose their change on those rides. i got caught once by a kid about my age one time. he tried to catch up, but i ran. finders keepers!:kewl:
