For me it's pennies, it's always a thrill to add to the wheat folder, and silvers slim pickings. I respect those who have that level of patience, unfortunately I do not.
Nickels. I've found a V nickel, over a dozen Buffalos, almost a roll of War Nickels, and many key dates these past 5 1/2 months. Halves are next best - found a Walker last week. Cents are third for me. Always a thrill to find wheaties!
I like cents personally because I always love saying "I got x number of pounds of copper from pocket change" despite it not being grade A copper. Plus there are wheat back cents! I have never coin roll hunted before though, but I have had the best luck with cents in change. =)
Yup!!! They're a close second for me to me to nickels. The only reason I really like nickels better is because you can find the rare dates sometimes. I've found 2 1938-Ds and 3 1939-Ss in 5 1/2 months.
If you really want to find silver, Halves and Nickels are your best bet. I don't have the patience for Dimes or Quarters, honestly. Heck, it's discouraging even trying to find 2009 dated Dimes!
I love to search nickels. You are usually able to find good stuff every couple of rolls (pre 1960) vs. looking for silver. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
I probably have about $85 face value of pre-1960 nickels. Once I hit $100, I may try to sell them somehow, and then start over again.
Do you have a coin folder or album you're keeping some in? It's always fun to try and make sets out of circulation/rolls.
I have 1 whole set I made out of the best I have found. After that, I keep them in tubes by dates. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
I like them, but it costs so much more to get fewer coins. You are right though, maybe there is an opportunity to be had here =)
Sadly, Coinstar seems to be a better source of quarters than CRH. For a time, two of my branches were getting quarters from a Laundromat owner. Found a couple of silvers in those.
I just started in my spare time. I love to get pennies from the banks. in fact, I'm heading there shortly. I usually pick up $25 a week, either in customer wrapped or bank wrapped. Whatever they may have on hand. I did get a box of brand new 2016's. Not sure if it's worth putting it on eBay or just keeping it. I think I may have to start storing them in the basement before the weight gets to be too much for the second floor, lol.
