Question about FUN, do they rotate cities every year or is it always in Orlando

Orlando is the normal but scheduling problems have made the show move in the past. They have used Tampa for the show. I believe folks like Orlando the most.

The show started in Miami, I believe, in 1956 and has grown tremendously since then. Orlando is the spot for the show, which most people prefer.

There has been a huge builders' convention held in Orlando, which took the entire convention center. That pushed FUN out of Orlando for a couple years.

It was held in West Palm Beach one year. Unfortunately it was held near the airport. One day a guy went nuts and shot up the airport. Everything was locked down including the FUN show. If you in the venue, you were okay. Otherwise you lost most of the day if you had arrived at the show before that incident.

I believe that was in Tampa . . . You, @ldhair and I had dinner with a couple of others there one night.

The show was also held in Ft. Lauderdale one year for the same reason . . . FUN couldn't get space in Orlando that year.

The crazy guy was at Ft. Lauderdale. What a mess. It shut down the airport and messed up travel for many at the show. I was at the FE club meeting at the time and Charmy broke the news to everyone.
I have never seen so much security in my life. Sheriffs with automatic long guns were everywhere, inside and outside of the show.

Right you are, Larry. Dinner was at the Tampa Show . . . The shooting was in Ft Lauderdale.

Tampa was always fun for me. Looks like the show has a deal to be in Orlando for the next several years.

This is not strictly related to the OP's question, but if I may, I would like to ask the following question: Is it possible to make some good finds/buys/deals in U.S coins at FUN?

I am asking because I collect U.S coins, and since I vacation regularly in Florida, I have attended Summer FUN a few times with the expectation of adding to my EAC and early US coin collection. I was never able to find what i would call 'good deals' in my areas of interest - I always had to pay prices approaching retail. (By far my best buys in US coins I have made in Europe).

The Garrison Collection is being offered in the Official Fun Auction. Also in the EAC venue, Early Cents.com auctions are worth reviewing.

For EAC pieces, the market has changed dramatically in the last 20 years and $-wise, a mountain leap in the last 5. There is no more "good deal" offerings experienced in the 70s/80s, in that collecting venue anymore.
