Like most ancient coin collector's I started with Gordian III since his coins were the cheapest and readably available. This is one of my favorites due to the detail:
Congratulations on the new addition! Looks like a nice broad flan & well centered on both sides. I've got Gordian III Antoniniani, and I've got AEQVITAS Antoniniani. But I don't seem to have any Gordian III + AEQVITAS Ants... I do, however, have at least four Philip I AR Ants with this reverse type photographed. Here are 3 of them from "The Great Dorchester Hoard of 1936" [Mattingly 1939], which I got from the Ken Bressett Collection (CNG's Keystone 6 in 2022), and posted here with a bunch of others: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ke...aea-capta-as-dorchester-higgie-hoards.394976/ I previously shared my two favorite Gordian III's in another thread (Alexandrian Helios Tetradrachm & Victory-Captive Sestertius): https://www.cointalk.com/threads/latest-edition.408024/#post-24732796 My favorite AR Antoninianus of Gordian III would probably be this one (love the Antioch mint style!):
Those are some nice detailed coins. I ended up not buying the coin above and bought this one instead. It was one I wanted but it was from Europe and I try not to order from over seas if I can. But I decided to go for it even though the holidays clog every thing up.
