how much do pin holes take away from the value and desirability of old currency? I'm not a paper money collector per say I buy pieces I like and that are in my opinion historic in nature like fractional or obsolete paper. Also nothing rare or expensive just stuff I can share with the grand babies and nephew.

Supply and demand.....in other words, the rarer a desirable note is, the more a pinhole can be forgiven. A pinhole can keep a note from obtaining an EPQ/PPQ designation which in most cases will devalue similar graded notes. An XF 45EPQ sells for more than a plain XF 45 note. It also depends on how large the pinhole is, and where the pinhole is located. A pinhole in a portrait can be very distracting and affect the eye appeal, whereas a small pinhole in a margin is not as devastating.
