Definition of “10000 world wide”: 9k are sold in the US, 1k to Americans abroad. 10% actually collect them, 90% try to flip them for a profit, if it grades PR69Cam it’s worthless… tell me if I got something wrong. Please also tell me how the design is related to “National parks”…? Don’t get me wrong guys, it’s a nice medal. But sorry, I am not really excited…
I guess im one of those 10% guys! Yes the N Parks has me stumped as well but there must be an explanation? PR69 cameos are worthless? Yes they are worth less but hardly worthless. lol. For a few extra dollars and while the PF70 coins are available, buy the best. When those are gone, the 69s will be top dog. One point I would like to make, you used the term Nice Medal? I believe a medal is designed to be worn and a coin was made to disappear in a washing machine!
I googled Saint Gaudens National Park and learned some interesting facts about the park and the story behind its existence. The connection between the park, Saint Gaudens and this commemorative coin is https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=s... site new hampshire &tbm=&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5
The National Park St. Gaudens site is in Cornish N.H. and is pretty close to what was once the longest covered bridge in the US. It very small as National Parks go but it quite nice and gives one a great introduction to St Gaudens work and his life. One very cute thing there is something called the "Bark Ranger." It is a scavenger hunt of sorts where you have a list of the various monuments and sculptures in the Park. You check off all of the items as you and your dog visit them. At the end you turn in the list and the Ranger presents your dog with a Bark Ranger medallion. My avatar is Fiona, our adored Welsh Terrier who passed away in 2021, she earned her Bark Ranger in 2020.
My family has a genetic disposition to Welshies. I was searching through some old family photos and I found a picture dated 1948 of my grandfather and a Welshie. After Fiona passed we swore we wouldn't get another dog. That lasted about a week before my wife was searching the Welsh Terrier club sites looking for a dog to adopt. We found a 7 year old dog in Virginia from the same kennel that produced a national champion named Dazzle. Rosie had given birth to three litters and the breeder was ready to let her go. It was an eight hour drive to make our little family complete again. We missed the pitter patter of paws on the floor and the unconditional love you get from a dog, well at least as long you give them a biscuit when they ask. They are definitely very energetic dogs, but trainable and will keep you laughing all the time with their antics. Rosie is our 4th Welshie and while we still grieve for Fiona, Rosie has snuggled her way into our hearts. Here is a picture of Rosie with the doghouse I built for her.
I said “nice medal” because it doesn’t have a denomination. So technically, it’s a medal!? By the way, my previous comments may sound a bit harsh, but actually I like the design a lot. I would have expected some “nature” related design on a national parks issue though…. and a denomination ;-)
His welsh terrier, Finley, is comical to watch! She will watch tv and go nuts when another dog is on the screen!
Now I got it… the OPs coin is not the national park service commemorative ($1), but the national park foundation medal (1oz silver).
I see PCGS uses the Commemorative Metal terminology on their website but I disagree with it. That said, a denomination should have been included in the design. As for nature related design, whats better then an American bald eagle? Lol. I’m happy to own one of these
If you buy these, Always buy these years after released by the Mint, who makes an absolute fortune on these. I got four in FDCs by that I cut out and placed in capsules.
Your method works well but I want my newer coins graded and in the highest grade possible. What I’m finding is higher graded coins years after release are still selling at the same price as the newer ones today. In some cases, some have dropped in price due to an unattractive designs but some have remained desirable.
