What an awesome collection. Much to be proud of there. They are ALL wonderful coins, but I do have several favorites. I can't just pick one or two. 1. The 1st coin listed, I don't have and would like to add an electrum coin to my collection. 2. 1799 US $1 3. 1804 1/2 Cent 4.Feuchtwangers are always a favorite of mine. I have a couple circulated pieces but that MS64 is loaded with eye appeal. 5. 1853 1/2 Cent 6. 1851-O 3c 7. 1852 Ty. 2 Gold $1 8. 1900 Lafayette $1 9. 1901 Great Britain 1/2 Sov 10. 1926 $2.50 Sesquicentenial
Thank you for taking the time to post an itemized list like that. I love it when people pick favorites. (I’m a fan of that Feuchtwanger too- it wasn’t cheap in MS64, as you can imagine, but was worth it, I think.)
These are really cool! I always thought that most medieval coins were just less artistic than roman coins, they seemed to be mostly just flat lines. While that still seems to be true with Byzantine coins (I still have to make a post about that) these coins are fantastic! The level of detail is something I didn't expect, it's one of the reasons I like coins from the late medieval period. The heavily-detailed coat of arms and the portraits just capture my fascination. Also, the swords are cool. It's really a shame we don't get coins like this anymore.
Amazing post! Love the consistency of the way you presented the photos. So many beautiful and interesting coins. I am working on my "box of 100" again, and I take great inspiration from your post and collection. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for sharing, a very attractive set overall. My favorite ancient is the Claudius Sestertius (I hope I said that right, I have no experience with ancients...) My favorite world coin is the Pillar Dollar. And as for the US, I like the Seated Liberty Dollar and the V Nickel.
Thanks for sharing your collection. I guess I will have to collect vicariously through your collection because I have neither the time nor the money to do it myself.
As always your collection is stunning! My top 3 favorite are the #1 Ionia electrum hekte #2 Calabria drachm #3 Teutonic order 1/4 taler Very hard to chose any as a favorite on your list so I can imagine how hard it is to sell a coin and get a new one. Congrats on an amazing collection!
No sir. Thank you for posting it, I was truly blessed to see your hard work. Absolutely amazing! I love them all. But, if you want my favorites, in chronological order (I am still to much in awe of your accomplishments to pick favorite favorites, lol). So glad for you, my friend. That is quite an accomplishment!
That makes 2 of us! But, I'm not complaining. I'm thrilled with what I have. It's not in this category, but I've had fun, and I'm still having fun putting it together.
I did have the majority of a US type set going, but I kind of scaled back from that a bit when I decided to limit the collection to just 100 pieces.
Wow,this is an overwhelming collection! Stunning, beautiful... where superlatives aren't enough! Well done!!! gold tremissis of Justinian I amazes me that an MS survived from that time!
I had a lot of fun figuring out the Persian inscriptions on the Persia Toman of Fath-Ali Shah when I was fooling around with Islamic and Arabic coins.
I always enjoy seeing these updates! I don't have one favorite but I see some types that we both like-the Pillar, the Philippines Peso, the Japan Yen (Dragon), the Trade Dollar (nice circulated cameo look there), and the gold Sesquicentennial among just a few. I'm also glad to see that ex-ddddd pieces make up 2% of the set.
