Came across this 1968 D Lincoln with a reddish purple tone. Haven’t seen many like it but I know it’s probably as common as hens teeth. Thoughts! Tks!
Copper is most likely the most variable element as for color. Search "different colors of copper" ...as the environment the coin is in the color shifts...change the environment, moving the coin, the coin color changes and can overlay the previous. If a person uses chemicals, weird colors can appear. Copper can be hard to judge. Jim
Jim, some of the rainbow, pinwheel, and toned coins I’ve found are my favorites. The color of this one has made it one of my top keepers.
The thread title is correct but your opening post is not. It’s a 1968-D cent that’s copper and it is common. The color is because it’s copper that has toned. Nice looking.
Yes Nut, I saw the mistake and wrote about it in the first comment. Then edited it when I found out it bothered some. Lol! Thanks for the correction. Yo me, it’s important to keep everyone happy!
yes it is. One my better finds. As for starting an album, maybe if my time left on earth had a longer outlook. Lol. Ill keep what I find and enjoy them or give them away.
