Probably not. I took a flyer on it since it was cheap and graded. I would have felt better if it were in one of the old Anacs holders.
That was my question when I posted it on the PCGS forum, was it lamination or a strike through. Most every response was for a strike through. The coin was already in the holder so I don’t know what the graders thought. I’m still open.
Interesting, It the area around and in the ear wasn't there I would say they were right. But in technical terms if the lamination has a steady and clean edge, a strike thru is also correct.
Nice. I think that's a solid investment. Not many coins minted. How long ago did you have to place your order? Sold out!
Got those Reverse Proofs in today. Gotta say they look plum wicked. There is a small red fiber (edited out of photo) on the cheek of the Peace Dollar. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it off safely?
An interesting thing about this die marriage is that Reverse Z was used for the following issues in the order shown. 1834 LM-4 1832 LM-14 1834 LM-5 1835 LM-2 Note how 1832 LM-14 was struck AFTER 1834 LM-4. Just goes to show how the Mint wasn't too scrupulous in those days about what they were striking in what year.
