Here is a look at the reverse rim.

It's not necessarily hollow inside. Magician's Coin usually have another half of a different coin attached to half of the reverse. It's all machined.

It is usually also noticeable as to where it was chucked into a lathe, marks will be on the reeding. It definitely looks to be a millwright's "project".

So how do they open? I just found my scale it is slightly light. 11.2g

Put it in a jar and shake it until it separates. That is if you know it is two pieces.

You might be able to push on the center of the obverse side and pop it out. Or use a knife blade in the gap between the two pieces.

This is a post I copied from another thread from earlier this year..

    Everyone..
    I rim looks questionable.
There can also be a possibility that it's a machined coin. Could be someones magic coin they accidentally spent. There is a magic trick called the Scotch and Soda coin trick. Google it.

The Obverse is a machined shell and the Reverse is cut in a way that it fits into the shell. One side is the Kennedy reverse and the other a foreign coin glued together.

Thanks for the explanation. Is there a Gin and tonic version? :playful:
