Hello everyone! This is my first post on this forum. Today I received this 1972-D Ike dollar back in change. The dollar itself is not worth anything over face, but what sparked my interest was the sticker on the reverse. I was unable to find out anything about it after a quick Google search. I was hoping that maybe some of you might happen to know anything about it. If anyone else happens to have another example feel free to post it also. Sorry about the poor quality photos, I just recently got a new camera so my settings are not ideal.
Neat coin. I think that this is more considered Exonumia with the sticker. I wonder if this was part of a Republican National Convention, interesting.
Stickering coins used to be a common way of advertising and more. One of the Numismatic News columnists, Clifford Mishler, used to collect them and would periodically report on finding a new one during his trips to coin shows. https://stacksbowers.com/advertising-on-coins/ https://www.numismaticnews.net/archive/ill-keep-writing-til-you-use-1-coins
) (giggle giggle yuk yuk smirk smirk hahaha). Please eliminate the words "...over face...", in order to be fiscally correct.
