I'm going to move us along to 1806 since I am going to be unable to post anything new for the next few days.

I have a whole stack of them...mostly tiny, old coppers. Here are the 3 newest ones. a couple 1913 (1 and 4 larin) and a 2008.

The obverse die for the 1807 proof halfpenny listed earlier was made from the KH35 - KH37 die used for 1806 proof halfpennies. KH35 (P1361) & KH36 (P1362-4) are seen with a smooth rim or just a trace of defect where the rim starts to impinge of the border beads, but I have yet to see a KH37 (P1365) with anything like a decent rim.

KH36 was the usual proof halfpenny and apparently struck over a long period of time in copper, bronzed and gilt finishes. upload_2023-10-26_23-58-49.jpeg

Of the above 3, the best is the copper at the top and the worst the slabbed bronzed piece. By comparison, none are as bad as the KH37 (P1365) seen below, with the possible die break around the rim seen an additional feature not seen on either KH35 or KH36.

Taylor changed the radius of the die in the defective area and re-engraved the border beads. I wrote an article on this in the 2007 British Numismatic Journal.

1806 was a prolific year for Soho patterns and proofs, and by extension, a source of Taylor restrikes. A few more items. First up, a silver proof, P1372. Possibly the only example available to collectors as the other three I'm aware of are in museums.

Contradicting Peck's assertion that a ball below the trident indicates a proof die.
This is a regular currency piece.
    upload_2023-10-27_0-24-30.jpeg

And here's one with berries on the reverse. P1377.

And to prove there's more to the collection than just proof and pattern halfpennies, a currency farthing.

    A penny, 3 half pennies, and a farthing. These are not as nice as those above; also I have no idea about the variations, etc. 1806 GB 1 p.jpg 1806 GB 1-2 p (2).jpg 1806 GB 1-2 p (3).jpg 1806 GB 1-2 p.jpg 1806 GB farthing.jpg

Added this while we have been on 1806 - Ireland 1806 Farthing. Pity about the scratches, but the detail is still good:

This coin I won from DNW Auction/ UK. They graded it as practically as struck/ NGC/ PGGS would grade it MS-66/67

Surprisingly another couple of Irish coins, though pretty poor condition - 10 pence and 5 pence but from long before decimalisation:

    More pattern halfpennies for 1805.
An Early Soho bronzed KH28, Peck 1301.
    upload_2023-11-1_23-22-9.jpeg

A Late Soho bronzed KH30, Peck 1303. Similar to the first but the ship has virtually disappeared due to die polishing.
    upload_2023-11-1_23-25-59.jpeg

And a pair of R91 Taylor restrikes in bronzed copper (Peck 1309) and silver (Peck 1308).

    upload_2023-11-1_23-32-6.jpeg

The bronzed restrike is very common and the usual type seen for this date as the Soho pieces are variously scarce to rare. The silver one is decidedly uncommon and is the only one I've physically seen, though at least one more exists to my knowledge. Serendipity played a big part in the latter, as I was visiting London in 2008, happened to pass by Spink, called in, and this had come through the door half an hour earlier that morning. It wasn't a gap I was expecting to fill.

Maybe time for 1804? I only have two - the inevitable Bank of England dollar and a Singapore Merchants Sumatra Keping token:
