NO DATE PENNY MASSIVE CUD/METAL CLUMP IS this Part of the DIE retained?

So i havent ever come across a coin like tis before but i think its retained part of the DIE of sorts or picked up some Extra material that appears to have gotten struck with this coin,,, I need help with this puppy

Throw it in acetone. I bet the "cud" disappears.

It isn't a cud but more like gunk, strawberry jelly possibly...

 

And wash your hands after handling it.

 

If it's a cud there should be an indent or lost letters opposite of it. Cuds are not "extra" metal. The metal is pulled from the opposite side of it.
