    1. Describe what you see in this image.

    2. Do you need to see any more of the coin (another image) in order to describe what you see in THIS IMAGE?

I see small dark spots on a red cent. Someone was breathing on it, long ago.

I see a latent fingerprint just beginning to darken

Looks like spittle reacted with the surface of a really nice red cent.

I see a Wheat Cent with a very nice red color. There are brown spots in the field and on some of the lettering. Also in the fields are brown streaks that are lighter than the spots. Near the rim are lines directed towards the center. They are possibly the result of a worn die. I think the spots and streaks were caused by a foreign substance reacting with the surface.

So, are the dark spots the same as the brown smudge over "one?" NO, there are two things (spots/smudge) going on in the image of the coin's surface caused by two different things. A written description similar to the one above would have pointed this fact out. It is all in the details.

    • I see a likely uncirculated wheat cent, mostly red with what appear to bew spatter spots.

Years ago this cent was owned by a person with a headcold. The dark spots are the remnants of spittle from his sneeze.
