Got what looks like Greek Paper Currency but I can't find it...need help

Greetings. I married a beautiful Greek woman and she has lots of family in Anthousa, Greece. Her parents have some Australian-turned-Greek citizens that gave me some coin and paper money to look up and find out if they have any value. The attachment is only a few of the items I will be posting; but I could really use your help in determining whether or not this is actual paper money or something else. I have looked in the Standard Catalog of Paper Money and I can not find anything. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. I have no idea why my pics are upside down. I have fixed them and saved them and they still come out backwards. My apologies.

Its Russian, not Greek. It dates from the Russian Civil War and is in the Specialized Standard Catalog.

 

Wow...Never had any idea that they were Russian. By any chance is there a link to that Specialized Standard Catalog or do I have to purchase the book? Thanks in advance.

It is quite a common note, I have seen bundles of 100 for sale in Hungary, some years ago.

 

I had a pretty big group of mixed russian notes like this some time ago, they are mostly common but they sold pretty well, there are scarce notes too. plus I learned a bit of cyrillic which is always good... most bigger libraries will have a copy of the Specialized Issue Catalogue in Reference section. good luck

Based on what you see what condition would you give this particular note? Just in your personal opinion. I have a nice stack of them and most are in VERY good condition. Thanks in advance.

 

Hope that somebody else can help you here. While I find some of the paper money topics interesting, such as this one, I do not collect notes ...

I am just really curious.. Your wife is Greek and she couldn't tell you that the currency in question was not Greek?

 

Though it's not easy to tell by the photo, I would rate ir as VF-, due to the stain/dirt on the back, that really affect the grading. If it is without that stain, it will be upgraded to VF+ or even XF- if there isn't a deep crease on the center or something. Though, I will have to see an actual note to tell the real grade. Because, crispness also counts... hope that helped.

 

My wife did not look at all the notes...the ladies were Australian and had notes from Australia, Great Britain, and now to my surprise; Russia. So No my wife didn't see these notes. Thanks for inquiring.

 

Older Australian and British notes are likely to be far more valueable than these Russian samples. Do you have any pictures of the other notes.
