Had anyone ever heard of this? I have seen one and curious if it's even a possibility. If it is I would have to guess it is very rare.
I could understand seeing an 8 over a 7 like the FS-901, but a 7 over the 8 makes no sense. If the mint employee stamped the 8 by mistake, it would make sense to polish it out of the die before stamping the 7 into the die. Chris
Im no coin expert, while familiar with the 8 over 7 error just thought this was a mystery. Does the last 8 look thinner than the others? Thanks
Wound't one have been attributed by now? Maybe you are lucky but I just imagine somebody srewing around!! Counterfeiters are too obvious!
Yes that is what I was thinking but that's why I am here to get more expert opinions. Plus if someone is playing around its always kind of fun to see what people will do to deceive. My thinking is an error this obvious should be nearly uncirculated condition right?
Probably only on Ebay - Stick around and learn from many experts here on this site (I am not one of them)
I cannot help but to think this the result of boredom. It's simply too obvious, and to be honest, the overlying 7 too crude... JMHO, of course.
Thanks, I knew of the possibility and thought I should check here before purchasing. There are a couple other coins that scare me too, but I will start a different thread for those. Still would like to know some solid facts as to how this is a fake. I know my gut feeling told me it was fake, and I always trust that, and the opinions here back that up, but if anyone could elaborate I would be most grateful!
