Some years back I picked up three high grade war nickels with the back burner plan of assembling a set. Picked up a few more from some friends here on CT recently and the little project moved from the back to the front burner. I am two shy of completing the set and hope to pick those up at a show late this month….. Then I think I’ll see if I can talk @lardan into building me one of those museum quality display shelves for them….

Randy, I felt the same way a few years ago. I’m a few short of a complete set, all PCGS, MS-65 or better and all with Full Steps. Very tough to complete but I’m getting there. Hope you get the last few that you need.

@Randy Abercrombie don't be so self deprecating. That almost complete set is totally impressive. Good luck with the last few.

I bought this set a couple of years ago. Since then, I have upgraded three of them. Most of these sets have sliders in them. The original group when I bought it were all Mint State, but I decided to upgrade a few of them.

The trouble with buying this set certified is that their value is very marginal given the cost of slabbing. You can buy very nice examples of these coins raw at the shows, but you might have to paw through some boxes of 2X2's.

I have picked up most of these in the $30.00-$35.00 range. Rather makes me wonder why folks go to the expense of slabbing them.

    The only found nickel that I don’t have is a 1944S. I did FOG a 1945S. @paddyman98
