I choose Washington basically because of the design. I love fishing! Something I have to get back to next year.
I voted Utah. I like history, and completing the transcontinental railroad was equal to landing on the moon for the 19th century.
I think I like Washington and Utah pretty evenly together. I like Washington for the design and Utah for the commemoration of the golden spike, connecting the railroad from east to west. That was a historic moment that made travel from the Eastern states to California and Pacific Coast a much easier, faster way, and much less arduous.
Washington. I like the natural stuff. Flowers trees mountains rivers birds trains wagons. Don’t want cement structures. Oh. And Salmon
Me too!! When's the last time you been in a wagon?? I was in one when I was 5. It was red by the way.....
Wyoming is just their license plate logo. Has to be the lamest coin design ever. Hey! We need a coin design! Ooh, I have an idea! Let's use our license plate! The design is trademarked by the state and UW which makes me wonder if the US Mint had to license it. On the other hand, WY is the actual "crossroads of the west" (sorry Utah). The high point of the original transcontinental railroad is at Ames Monument near Laramie. It's all downhill from there both directions. Sorry, I feel like spewing useless trivia. Speaking of which, Augustus Saint-Gaudens sculpted the bas-relief portraits of the Ames brothers on the monument. Remember him? He also did a few coins. I voted Washington because I like fish.
I never got into the state quarters. I bought a delinquent storage unit that had some 60 state quarter bears. Those were kinda cool, I ended up selling most of them off at the monthly coin meetings and what didn't sell got out on the Christmas party raffle. I do however have a few uncirculated rolls of strike through errors.
I bought one of the books available to put my state quarters in. I completed the book with the coins years ago and put the book in a "glad" bag to seal it. It was nice to check out the coins to see if there was any damage in the "glad" bag. I was pleased to find that all the coins were as pristine as the day I put them in. I also completed the National Parks Quarters Collector's Folder. They, too, were still in great shape. Anyway, should I put something in the bags to keep them in great shape?
