Hello, I'm a newbie to the coin collecting world so please forgive my ignorance. I have a 1oz Gold Eagle which I got directly from the US Mint. It is still in its original protective casing. Should I send that out to PCGS or NGC to get graded? My intentions are to collect, eventually handing over to my child when she is an adult.
We need photos but I doubt it’s worth sending in to a TPG. The fees are too high and the quality of the mint is not what it used to be. And all 2023 gold eagles are uncirculated as modern gold doesn’t circulate. I doubt a clerk would know what to do with one.
My personal feeling is not to get the piece graded. The cost (doing so) is too high and it won't add any value.
Thank everyone. I'm sure to have many questions moving forward. I guess its okayn to just leave it in ihe protective case it came with?
If he got it directly from the mint it would be a proof not uncirculated. The posted picture looks like an Unc.
