Now if they shipped to the UK I would be quite happy to bid 0.99c on that coin just to get it in hand to have a closer look see :D

It's worth at least $4.50 if it's really made of silver.

There needs to be some sort of way to regulate these self slabbers on ebay. They need to have a separate category for slabbed coins, and only include the top grading companies in the category, barring the rest.

Of course, as long as ebay has money coming in, they probably will not respond.

While I agree with the premise, I can only imagine the discrimination lawsuits that would abound......our favorite Edited: Language (thanks Aiden) would of course have the most to lose and would be the fastest to file suit. It won;t be long after the other, smaller, self slabbers would follow suit.

then there is the question, who are the top grading companies? We know some folkses fave 4 but who determines they are the best? Industry standard? Is there really such a thing on subjective grading? Sales? SGS would be up there then.....

I love playing devils advocate, but honestly, the only way we can really do anything about these homegrown self slabbers is to protest, not bid on their auctions and educate educate educate......afterall...that and fellowship is why we are here right?

SGS? They are as crooked as they come. These self-slabbers are doing a lot of harm to the numismatic community.

You are right about FleaBay.They really don't care,as it is a scammer's paradise up on there.

No one has to buy coins slabbed by these minor slabbers. Unless the laws change to require licensing or certification for TPG's, all one can do is try to warn buyers.

Personally, I think even the major TPG's, like NGC wouldn't deserve licensing unless they swore off non-factual designations like "First Day of Issue" and "Early Releases".

    Oooooh Boy!

That looks like one superbly whizzed piece there! I doubt it's even worth actuall melt now as it probably lost some weight in the whizzing process.

    FOR Aidan,

A pretty horrible looking coin there my friend - might put them in the SGS league! Just might make the blog!

That is an ugly coin...looks dipped out or whizzed or counterfeit or all of the above ;).

You would expect an honest TPG would properly describe the coin as large date/small date, large letters/small letters etc. AU 58? I don't think so.
