I believe that this coin could be Faustina, but more than that i do not know, and even that information may not be correct. Does anyone recognize her? Bronze, 16mm., 2.12 gm. Edit: Upon reflection I don't think that it can be Faustina. It was in a bag of coins labelled Justinian I, Faustina, Septimus Severus, Elagabalus, Justinian I (again), Byzantine Cup coin, Iceland Arar. I had removed all of the other coins and this is the only one left.
Sorry, it looks like it could be just about anyone to me. Any guesses what that could be on the reverse?
Could the reverse be Mt. Argaeus? There are coins of Elegabalus struck at Caesarea with Mt. Argaeus. Just guessing.
I wish! I can't quite remember the obverse, possibly Elagabalus. From the photograph I would say it belonged to either TIF or Ancient Joe. I just nicked this bit for jigsaw purposes.
Hi Topcat, I got your message. I'm afraid I can't help you. There just isn't enough detail for me to make anything out. The coin Pishpash posted belongs to AJ - Ancient Joe, not me, JA, John Anthony - a slight difference in letter order, a slightly larger difference in hobbying funds.
The above-posted Kaunos stater is indeed a former coin of mine, sold earlier this year as it didn't quite "fit" anymore. I posted a thread about it a couple years back with more detail: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancients-the-sacred-stone-of-kaunos.248179/ Let me know if you have any questions!
I own hundreds of Faustina Sr and Jr coins, both imperial and provincial, and have probably seen thousands. Don't think this is either of the Faustinas.
