I would not have purchased it.

 

It was only $7.50 about 20 years ago.

 

Let's put it this way, Larry. I would have preferred to pay your bar tab at the FUN Show.

Looks like somebody had fun rubbing out the mint mark. Or it's just a fake. I do believe any 1895 without a mint mark was a proof.

 

I would not have bought it. For starters the obverse and reverse are on the wrong sides.

 

Mintmark is obviously removed. I think you mentioned this once in another post.

 

Well, if you have the two volume Morgan Dansco albums that's the perfect hole filler for that pesky '95-P slot.

 

That may be true, but if I recall, the last time we were together was at the NGC Luncheon. John Baumgart @messydesk was sitting at the table with us, I was passing around my set of ANA medals, and the beer was free!!!

That's one you can hold in your hand without worrying about it.

 

If someone rubbed out the mint mark -- and the coin is genuine -- then we need to put them in the stupid file. Any 1895 Morgan is a struggle for many collectors to get.

 

I think Doug was at the table that year. Also Jason Poe, Bill Jones, Cosmic, Hardtimes and some others. Fun is the right name for this show.
