I think Wheatie44 is referring to machine rolled, which is typically done by third party companies who in turn have coins shipped to banks.

Customer rolls tend to be more interesting as they can be over filled. Also, customer cent rolls often have dimes in them. They also tend to have a higher amount of foreign coins mixed in them. However, I've read reports of $2.50 and $5 gold coins being found in clear plastic machine rolls on this very forum so I'll take whatever banks offer me.

What kind of coin rolls had the gold in them? Nickels?

Yeah, nickels and dimes since $2.50 and $5 gold coins are about the same size as them.

Customer rolls. I find them at the bank and the convenience stores.

Definitely machine wrapped if you're looking for old coins or rarer dates... Around 80% of the customer wrapped rolls I've gone through have already been searched, though you will usually find more older Uncirculated coins in them than in machine wrapped rolls...

I once found SIX dimes in a CW cent roll... $1.05 for 50 cents. :)

The discussion will go on and on but generally machine wrapped are better, but I have hit jackpots with CWR coins, like literally hundreds of wheat cents because all the cents were wrapped ca. 1964. So it depends less on the wrapper and a lot more on the depositor of the rolled coins.

I have found when looking for silver, at least in my area, that CWR are far and away much better. About three years ago I got a solid roll of silver Roosies that must have been unmarked by a collector and deposited into my credit union.

Some people enjoy the hunt, as in Bank Rolls.
I have found that Customer rolls are the best.
They usually have more collectible coins.
Though not all ways true, I have gotten rolls of uncirculated wheats, nicely struck Au pennies, laminations, die cracks etc.
The find is better to me than the forever search.

I find CWRs tend to be either feast or famine. They tend to provide the most jackpots as well as the most skunks. CWRs are where you are much more likely to find coins that have been sitting around in someone drawer for decades, but at the same time when it comes to CWRs there is always the chance you are getting another coin roll hunter's rejects.
Bank rolls are more random. One roll will never be a jackpot but you won't get skunked either. Which is better depends on what you are hunting for. If you are looking for silver or older BUs then CWR's are better. But if you collect everything old and new then bank rolled are better in my opinion.

I believe it. I once found 58 dimes in a roll of cents.

I didn't just think, I knew. I was using something called tact in my response, which is something you lack. Many of your replies on here are short, sarcastic, useless and often crude. I've grown tired of it. You may have helped run the misunderstood Detecto off of this forum but it won't work with me. I'll just mute you.

I'm terribly sorry that you are offended by my post.
Perhaps you need to grow a thicker skin.
I will not be muted, but feel free to put me on your "Ignore" list.

It's not so much about growing a thicker skin. After all, I've endured reading your posts for years. I've just grown tired of the content, or lack thereof of them, is all. Most offer nothing of substance and are just snarky and crass, as can be seen by your specifying the semantics of not being "muted" but instead being placed on my "ignore" list.
