It's worth a lot to me but, what is a realistic number on the value?

It appears to have been harshly cleaned, so it only worth about melt value.

Easy guys. I :angelic: can be as sarcastic as anyone; and it is great fun for me :D but not for the person :( I "sting." You Tube and Ebay have caused both :bucktooth: collectors and :bucktooth: non-collectors to believe they struck it rich :jawdrop::joyful::greedy:! Mostly, these people don't understand grading. They think all coins are equal. Plus some folks :blackeye: pray on the uninformed. They list common stuff they claim is rare for very inflated prices using Buy It Now.

    Good morning Myka,
Like Tough Coins stated in Post #2 in that condition its true market value is about $12. However you state its worth a lot to you. Is the coin from a family member or friend? In a case like that its priceless! Put the coin in a 2x2 flip and enjoy it for its value to you.

Only worth $10-$12 in that condition but it sounds like it’s priceless to you so congratulations are in order. Place in a 2x2 flip to protect it.

Where else would one expect to see anywhere from $100-1500 for a coin like that excepting where I said, in some comic book? But you conceive of her as though she's some poor, frail, sensitive little thing whose feelings ought to be hurt for an obviously humorous remark, while it doesn't occur to you chivalrous types all women may not in fact be as emotionally-fragile and in need of your protection as you evidently conceive of them to be, is that where this is at? Look at @Insider, I think you just incited him.

Listen, you want to presume she's as hopeless as you, that's your business, I'm not going to tell you how to presume. Five will get you a dime she's much smarter than that, though, just call it a feeling I got. But we'll see, now that you put it in issue in her thread. And thanks a bunch for that, don't think I don't appreciate it none.

I never thought the OP was fail, sensitive, hopeless, or had hurt feelings. In the absence of voice, body language, etc sometimes it's hard to tell a pun from snarkyness. We do get a lot of negative responses here for snarky answers. For what its worth I thought your opener was funny just as I thought my reply to you was funny and meant in jest. As far as inciting others, I'm not responsible for other people's actions.
Now come on. I heard you and you heard me let's bury it. Be a good horsy and I'll put an extra hand full of oats in your feed bag.

Welcome to CoinTalk. The value of a coin depends on its rarity and condition. The coin you show is not really scarce and it is in very circulated condition. Nevertheless it is a silver coin and will hold that value. I would guess $8 if you sold it to a coin shop.

Well, you put it that way. I better get those oats, though, I got news for you. But forgotten. And along with that my apologies for misunderstanding your intentions.

If you've not had a Frankie in hand before, this is a neat opportunity for you. But others are right, condition of a coin is very important in many cases, and generally, Frankies (Franklin Halves) follow with that. This one is in a condition that makes it only worth the silver melt value. Some Frankies tend to go a bit higher than melt even in a poorer grade but this year won't do that.

Perhaps your 100.00 figure you thought it could be worth was something you saw based on the 1954 Proof coin. This one clearly is a business strike. The proof coins can be valued differently. Sometimes proof coins actually are less valuable than business strikes, too.

It’s got to be a lot prettier to be worth more the slightly over melt.
