Couldn't agree more. Great coins and interesting people, what more could you ask for.

Here's one more scarcer type from Constantine I and I promise I'll stop:

Can anyone help me with the attribution with this one. When I use the Helvetica xls file, it seems to indicate that it is a forgery. It has been driving me made for a couple of years :(

I was hoping to treat you on one of my coins, too, but now it turns out I don't have a single campgate. Not among the 50 4th century Romans I have and not among my 20 barbarian imitations. What does the campgate mean - is it a legionary thing, used for paying soldiers? On which occasions was it produced, is there anything known about this?

@dlhill132 The mint mark may end in a double crescent. As for the rest, I could probably carve out any letters you want!

It does look like a double crescent ending the mintmark. Have you taken a look at Siscia 214? These other examples do look quite similar to yours.

Pishpash, I didn't mean for you to carve out anything. Looks to be dirt or crust in exergue. I just thought this would help you.

    Sorry Doug H.

@dlhill132 it looks a solid mess, I am going to leave it as it is, but thanks anyway.

Yes Pishpash I am envious as well, I don't have any of this type of campgate at the moment but when I do they have to have doors, can you imagine the cold breeze in winter.

Which is why their gates were offset, to stop the wind whistling straight through.

I'm beginning to look at these camp gate coins too. You are all bad influences :D but I'm trying to get ones with doors too.
