  17. Lot 4

Thank you for the opportunity for this giveaway! This means a lot to me and the coin community. The reason why I would like the Seated Dimes is because I’ve yet to have any! So these would be my first ones! So wish me luck!

    Thanks,

Count me in for Lot 6 please!

As to why I chose that lot.. I'm a big history buff. Over the years I've studied WW2 extensively. I never really got into studying WW1 because I had this idea in my mind that it was boring and antiquated compared to WW2. How wrong I was! Over the past few months I've been enraptured by WW1 history, not only that but the first couple of decades of the 20th century in general. I'm currently reading the book To End All Wars by Adam Hochschild, a very interesting volume about WW1 that is not so much a history of the war but instead a history of a handful of individuals whose personal stories are intertwined with one another and the war itself. The book is segmented into (I believe) 7 parts. The first part being pre war, the ensuing five parts for each year of the war and the final part being post war. I'm currently reading the 3rd part..1915. By the time this contest closes I will probably be in the midst of the 4th part.. 1916. The same year as the Buffalo nickel! Quite synchronistic I'd say.

Part of what draws me to coin collecting is the feeling of holding history in the palm of my hand. When I handle a coin I think of what was going on in the world when the coin was made. I try to envision a scene in my mind of an ordinary person at the time buying a slice of bread or a paper covering events of the time at their local newsstand. So what better time to envision than the one I'm in the midst of in my current studious pursuits?

Thanks for the contest LordM :) Best of luck everyone!
