Unfortunately that's my only one. I tried selling it on ebay a few years back and there was no interest besides one person trying to lowball. At that point I wasn't really into Morgans, but now that I have gained a better appreciation for them, this one is staying in my collection (unless of course there is some outrageous offer, but I don't expect that).

Probably the first 3-5 coins from fresh dies might have qualified is my guess. I don't even think heavily repolished dies could produce udm fields. And I think this was just an early anacs thing. *Don't think* pcgs or ngc ever used it.
Whoa, yeah I see the clashes and they have frost?! And doesn't even really look polished. Now I'm boggled. Hope we can get answers. That's cool. Must be from the method they used to polish the die or the expertise of the polisher. Ok, I'm straight up drooling over that 83cc now Unless maybe the dies clashed right away? Like before a single planchet was struck but the frost is throwing me. Very interesting
I had a '83cc PL gsa, years ago that had clashed, yet polished dies. Other than that, a certain 1904o comes to mind. I believe it's due to an inexperienced OR an up to his ass in alligators mint worker. Around 4-430 pm (especially on Friday) people tend to rush and make mistakes @ work .
Since it appears your post, @rickmp, got jumped over, I did some research and found a post on Coin Community that states UDM stands for "Ultra Deep Mirror". It also looks like that is a PCGS designation akin to DMPL (Deep Mirror Proof-Like). Not certain on that last sentence, so dont quote me on that, but its the closest I could find. Hope that helps!
It's actually MS63, I'm addicted to these things. I believe they do have a pop report on anacs website, there's not many of them. I only have two, but I want more.
They only had so many dies from Philly, so they would have to repolish them after a while. I think sometimes the polisher lost track of time! These UDMs really are special, it's like a reference coin for DMPL. Barely any luster at all.
This one is a VAM-5, dash under the second 8, rust patch under 18 and the die gouge through the eagle's beak. The dies were clashed and polished several times and there are clashed DMPL examples in the SSDC population. Very nice pre DMPL example!
