This was awarded to my wife's father. He was a UK paratrooper in WW2. The other side of the medal shows a lifesaver in action assisting a swimmer in need. For reasons unknown. I never photographed the other side. I guess I should.

I forgot I had these, I think I bought them either at a FUN show or a show in Philadelphia, PA. Train A1.jpg train A2.jpg train A3.jpg

It appears OIN merged with Numismatics International in 1981. And they did have a journal. It was called, oddly enough, JOIN.

Here's an 1849 Queen Victoria Medal I got recently, normally I collect California Tokens from 1849 but I thought this gothic queen would fit somewhere in my collection. I was thinking of getting a Godless Florin but them suckers cost more than I want to pay! :D This Medal was minted as Queen Victoria opened the London Coal Exchange in 1849 and the architect was highly celebrated as the link says, he even got his name on this Medal, more in the link!

Starting to go back through my stuff because I think there will be some decent stuff just in bags that I’ve not identified as important yet. That said, I don’t recall posting this which I bought just because it’s an encased large cent which was something I hadn’t seen before. According to Coins and Canada it’s a fairly rare piece.

Here's a neat token I found while detecting an old local park. I had my first savings account at this bank in 1964 when I was 6 years old. Size of a half dollar, I think this aluminum token pre-dates that! Established in 1850 and unchanged until 2005. The stately building is still there but is now the county DMV.

Here's another 1849, a lottery exchange Token, prizes paid in gold and silver, sounds exciting! California Counter Tokens from 1849 are the holy grail to some collectors and way too pricey for me to buy but sometimes I find a way! :DSellers pics.

Yeah I appreciate the tip I never thought about it but I have quite a few counter Tokens, mostly from California but I still have a lot to learn and a lot more collecting to do. Top one is simply a $20 counter from 1856, possibly from Christof Lauer and his associates as his company put out an astonishing amount of Tokens and Medals used all over the world. :)
