Constantine I VLPP from Siscia…unofficial issue

    Here's my latest unofficial VLPP. The bust is facing the wrong way and they forgot to engrave the shield/wreath over the altar. The "horse" on the shield is pretty funny.

    [VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP] -- two Victories stg., facing one another [together holding shield inscribed VOT PR] altar between them.

    Great horse on the shield! That was the first thing I noticed.

    Also... is it just me... or does the left "Victory" look like it might be holding a pig or some other small four-legged creature under its arm? (Like a Roman Republican oath-swearing scene, or maybe just dinner time?)

    I also thought the right one looks like eight-armed Hindu Goddess Durga hugging herself -- so probably just weird lines going all over combined with my weird imagination!

    That’s a fantastic unofficial specimen! I can just imagine the amateur engraver finishing up his work and thinking… “that’s the ticket! No one will ever be able to tell…”
